• Verifying the identity of signers and witnesses according to state requirements.

 

Notarization:

• Administering oaths or affirmations as required.

• Notarizing documents by verifying signatures, completing notarial certificates, and affixing the notary seal.

 

Document Handling and Delivery:

• Ensuring that all signed documents are properly executed and returned to the appropriate parties (e.g., lenders, title companies).

• Following specific procedures for document handling and delivery, including secure delivery methods if required.

 

Compliance and Record-Keeping:

• Ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations governing notarial acts and mortgage closings.

• Maintaining accurate records of notarial acts, including journal entries and copies of documents.

 

Professionalism and Customer Service:

• Providing professional and courteous service to all parties involved in the transaction.

• Addressing any questions or concerns from signers regarding the documents or the notarization process.

 

Continuing Education and Certification:

• Staying updated on changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards related to notarial acts and mortgage closings.

• Pursuing continuing education courses and maintaining annual certifications relevant to the role of a Notary Signing Agent.
